I hold a Master’s degree in Sociology and have primarily worked at a strategic level with issues related to victims of crime, particularly men’s violence against women and intimate partner violence. I am currently employed at R&D Social Services Västerbotten, where I work as a development officer within the field of violence. Within the framework of my employment, I am affiliated with the Department of Social Work as a doctoral student at 80 per cent.

My doctoral dissertation examines how the work of social services is affected by the new Social Services Act’s requirement that practice be conducted in accordance with scientific knowledge and proven experience. The focus is on practical knowledge—the action-based knowledge that social workers develop in their everyday work—and how this form of knowledge relates to state-led knowledge governance. By studying the often complex work of social services in cases of men’s violence against women and intimate partner violence, the project explores the opportunities and obstacles involved in developing and applying practical knowledge within a knowledge-governed context. The aim is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the concept of knowledge within social work and to examine the role that practical knowledge may play within the discourse of evidence-based practice.
