M. Werner was born in Sweden in 1968. She is currently working as associated professor at the Medical Faculty, Department of Clinical Sciences, Otorhinolaryngology at Umeå University, Sweden. She is also a senior consultant subspecialised in otology and otosurgery at the University Hospital of Umeå, Sweden. Her research areas include:

  • active bone conduction implants
  • soundtrauma
  • auditory neuropathy
  • genetical hearing impairment
  • acute and chronic otitis media
  • development and evaluation of AI support in ear diagnostics

PhD, MD Werner is an elected member of the Swedish Society of Otosurgery, and the Swedish ACTA Oto-Laryngologica Society.

Werner graduated from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, in 1994 as a Medical Doctor. She has been a specialized otorhinolaryngologist since 2008. She was awarded a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Otorhinolaryngology in 2016. The title of her doctoral thesis was ”Hair cell regeneration in vestibular epithelia - A study in an in vitro model”.
