Campus: The university has four campuses, Campus Guanajuato is main campus.
Student life: Host students is a programme that helps international students get to know the Mexican culture, and historic and cultural cities. Trips to Mexico City, Teotihuacan, and other former colonised cities are included. During the term, a culture show is organised when international students have the opportunity to showcase their country and city. The university also offers several sports activities, and workshops in dance, theatre, music and poetry.

About Guanajuato

Guanajuato is the capital of the state with 160,000 citizens. It is a picturesque town with squares, houses with pastel facades and cobbled streets and alleys that cover the hills of a small river, overlooking churches and squares. In October each year, more than 35 countries participate in the largest annual international art festival, the Cervantes Festival, where dance, music, art, film and theatre take over the streets of Guanajuato.

Restrictions 

Spanish speaking university. Applicant must have sufficient knowledge in Spanish. Students may apply to any of the four campuses but will only be accepted to one. 

It is possible to take classes from the Teaching Spanish as a Second Language program and Philosophy programs, only if the student has C1/C2 level of Spanish proficiency. 

Restricted courses: 

Foreign language courses offered in Campus Guanajuato cost is not waived and students will need to pay course fees. Language courses do not grant academic credits and are excluded of the full-time academic load. 

Recommended Spanish proficiency: 

Applicants to Universidad de Guanajuato are recommended to have:

B1/B2 for regular undergraduate courses or a minimum grade of VG/B (pass with credit) in upper secondary course 3, or a minimum grade of G/B in upper secondary course 4. Alternatively corresponding proficiency acquired in another way.
 
Applicants for Universidad de Guanajuato should be aware of that the language of instruction is Spanish only. Therefore, all applicants need to decide themselves whether they consider their proficiency in Spanish to be sufficient. 

Applicants to Universidad de Guanajuato who consider their Spanish proficiency to be sufficient should contact the International Office to discuss this.

The semester academic load is 24 to 32 UG credits, one UG credit equals 25 hours of work.

Additional costs

As an exchange student, you do not need to pay tuition fees. However, additional costs may incur.  
 
Examples of Homestay Expenses: Rent (including Internet, gas, electricity and water) 3000-7000 mexican pesos per month. Meal cost 3000-6000 mexican pesos per month.

Accommodation

Exchange students are responsible for finding their own accommodation but Universidad de Guanajuato will support students to find accommodation by providing lists of recommended housing.

Student grants and loans for studies outside of Sweden

You may be entitled to student grants and loans from CSN when studying abroad.

As the cost of living and accommodation may be higher abroad, you can apply for an extra loan known as an additional loan for studies abroad.

You can also apply for an additional loan to cover additional costs, i.e. travel and insurance costs.
