Höstljus 2025

15 students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Umeå participate in this year’s edition of Autumn Light

Höstljus is back in central Umeå with light installations and light artworks that illuminate the autumn darkness. The light festival will open with a fire show and speeches by Sara Hedlund, project manager for Höstljus, Christina Bernhardsson, chair of the technical committee, and Simon Gran Danielsson, lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts.

After the opening, at 18:00, there will be an opportunity to listen to the artist Ida Boman read a text by her light artwork Midmörkerkrans in Broparken. The event in the park is a collaboration between Mareld Konstförening and Umeå kommun.

15 students from the second year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts are participating with their works. Based on their individual artistic practices, the students have had the opportunity to engage in dialogue with the urban space, the history of the city and the land, and its social choreography. Their participation in Höstljus is part of the course Individual Artistic Work, C.
