Timber

Timber is an exhibition based on reflecting our contemporary relations to the forest and forestry. With the objects, I want to portray the forest as a magical place, where our imagination wanders freely, but also put those aspects in relation to our use of lumber as a natural resource. The bark grey, the wood, the internal coloured in gold. What does forests mean to us as individuals, and as a collective? How can forests that have been of value to us still be with us without existing? With focus on materiality, the exhibition aims to create space for reflection and a platform for discussion.

Emil Faisal Hasselberg is an artist born 1999, based in Undrom, Ångermanland and Umeå, Västerbotten. With a circular approach, he mostly expresses himself in metal through sculpture and installation. Emil is currently studying the masters programme in fine arts at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts.
