Now. Then after

Can salt save lives?

Now

Sculpture: Horsehair, salt, embalming oil, resin, wax, shellac, cotton canvas, metal.
183 x 40 x 40 cm

Then after

Sculpture: Horsehair, salt, embalming oil, resin, wax, shellac, cotton canvas, metal. Remnants from destruction.
173 x 50 x 50 cm

Select 11 hairs from a dead horse and a living horse. Tie the hairs together with sewing thread.

Burn incense over the tied hairs.

Leave it in salts overnight.

Treat the hairs with embalming oil.

Seal in resin and beeswax into separate capsules, one for the dead horse’s hair and one for the living horse’s hair.

Wrap in strips of cotton cloth. Seal with skin glue, wax, shellac, and resins.

Solve Dissolve

Salt crystal that grows gradually during the exhibition.

Ongoing alchemical process: Epsom salt, water, fishing line, glass, metal.
13 x 14 x 10 cm

An ongoing process that explores the dissolution and transformation of matter and reflects the principles of "solve" (to dissolve) and "coagula" (to reconstitute). As the crystal develops, it becomes a meditation on time, change, and the continuous cycle of decay and renewal.
