MFA1 Umeå Academy of Fine Arts exhibition at Galleri Alva

On 20 March, the exhibition Interludium opens at Galleri Alva på Norrlands universitetssjukhus!

The first-year students on the Master’s programme at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts are each exhibiting one work, together. The works on display include paintings, photography, sculpture, installations and video. You are welcome to attend the opening on 20 March at 12 noon, or view the exhibition during the gallery’s opening hours until 7 March.

“Interludium - an interval, a pause, score: a between moment, that requires our specific attention.  Everyday I come into this world, wrote the philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy and everyday I am already caught by it, by the all the forces of my body, which moves forward in this world, its spaces and directions, its resistances and its openings.  

Interludium, could be discovered as a visual score, a moment to pause: each artist calls us to attend to this between moment, the close and the distant:  a quiet subtle texture, everyday scenes loosened, distorted even, rain hitting, the stories we tell, lost moments, catching breath, tears trickling, vibrating resonances, the onward movement of feeling, and soul, wind caught, catching breath, what can be undone through mirrors, a warbler’s bass note, small things to believe in, a mascot glimpsed in the street.  A community of sounds, textures and senses that turn.  Something takes place in the interval, a between this or that, when our attention tunes to the world of others.”
