Modular train interior
This project focused on designing a modular train interior for a fully automated, battery-powered train that will run on currently unused railway lines in Europe. The goal was to create a flexible space that can shift between passenger and cargo use depending on demand. The design emphasizes sustainability, user comfort, and accessibility for all, including people with disabilities, parents with children, and elderly passengers. The process began with a group research phase that included interviews, user personas, and a full-scale cardboard seating workshop. The final design, developed individually, includes modular seating that folds and moves to create an open cargo area when needed. Materials such as recycled plastic and easy-to-clean surfaces were chosen to support both sustainability and hygiene. The result is a modern and adaptable train interior suited for short, one-hour trips across Europe.
