RTR-01
The Atlas Copco RTR-01 is a vision project about rethinkinging the future of repair. It focuses on an all rounded ecosystem to help support a repair technician to deliver consistently reliable repairs through guided steps, purpose-built tools, and a traceable record of each action. Repair often deals with many challenges like high variability, poor quality and high employee turnover which can be solved with integrating a user centered software and hardware interface. At the core is a smart screwdriver mounted to an assist arm, paired with an automated bit-changing station and supported by a centralized guidance platform. The screwdriver is equipped with a camera to provide close-up visibility for fine, detail-intensive operations such as small fasteners, while the bit station automatically loads the appropriate bits based on specific task needs. The laptop-based interface acts as the main guidance tool, leveraging the laptop webcam as an external overview, enabling real-time feedback and step-by-step instruction during the repair process. Together, RTR-01 proposes a more structured, accountable, and accessible repair experience which is aligned with the ever growing Right to Repair movement and a longer-term shift toward a more regenerative, repurpose-oriented society.
