ECHO

Interaction Concept (IxD2) 2025

Roads are social environments where drivers communicate. As vehicle-to-vehicle communication and in-cabin sensing technologies evolve, vehicles themselves are becoming increasingly social actors. In collaboration with CUPRA, ECHO explores a novel interaction in which drivers use multimodal sensors to record and express their attitudes toward nearby CUPRA vehicles, which construct a network of social connections between car and driver, car and car, and driver and driver. With the in-car AI assistant translating these interactions, the connection between driver and vehicle is strengthened. These expressions contribute to a dynamic design concept of social memory, enabling vehicles to perceive, interpret, and socially respond to their peers in the surrounding community.
