Umeå School of Architecture is hiring a teaching assistant within research for the period August 2026—April 2027. The position is 20% part-time with start date as agreed. The application deadline is 14 May, 2026.
Job description
As teaching assistant, you will assist the School of Architectures researchers in the project “Towards sustainable biobased circularity in digitalized building: Pilot scale 3D printing upcycled biomass in cement.” The project is led by Chalmers University of Technology and the team is formed by Umeå School of Architecture, Konkretprint AB, and Greenwave AB. The research project aims to validate pilot-scale solutions for biomass application in 3D printing with concrete, and UMA will contribute by exploring new building design with biomass in the 3D printing process. In this role, your primary tasks include:
3D modelling using Rhinoceros 3D and Grasshopper software
3D printing of prototypes with WASP 3D printer and Prusa 3D printer
Other tasks or duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the position you must:
Be enrolled in years 2- 5 of the Architecture Programme, or in the Master's Programme in Architecture and Urban Design at Umeå School of Architecture
Have good knowledge in Rhinoceros 3D.
Have good knowledge of Grasshopper for Rhinoceros 3D
Have good knowledge of 3D printing processes
Experience working with electronic spreadsheet (e.g., Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets) is considered an advantage.
As a person, you are creative, solution-oriented, and goal-driven. You work well in a group, while also demonstrating the ability to take initiative and work independently toward set goals. Your approach is structured and methodical, and you bring a keen attention to detail to everything that you do.

Terms of employment
The position is part time, 20% of full-time, during the period August 2026-April 2027. Start date as agreed. Working hours are flexible and will be agreed upon in with the research project lead based on the student’s schedule.
