Umeå School of Architecture is hiring three Teaching Assistants for work during the fall semester of 2026 and the spring semester of 2027. The position is 10% of full-time with a planned start date in October 2026 or as agreed. The application deadline is 8 September, 2026.
Job decription
The School of Architecture is looking for Teaching Assistants in two different areas; one to our workshop and two to our communications department. When applying, you will be asked to specify which area(s) you are interested in working in.
As a Teaching Assistant in the workshop, you will primarily work with:
Service and maintenance of machines for digital and manual manufacturing,
Instructing other students in various techniques (as time permits),
Creation and maintenance of good organizations in and around the workshop premises.
As a Teaching Assistant in communications, you will primarily work with:
Development and publishing of marketing content in coordination with Umeå School of Architecture’s Communications Officer,
Planning and assisting with Open House events, guided tours and study visits,
Communication with international applicants to the Master's Programme at the Umeå School of Architecture, including guidance and responding to questions related to the programme and the application process,
Teaching support for courses on digital tools.
Other tasks and duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a teaching assistant, you must be admitted to undergraduate or advanced-level studies at a university.
To be eligible for the position, you will:
Be enrolled in years 2–5 of the Architecture Programme, or in the Master's Programme in Architecture and Urban Design at the Umeå School of Architecture.
For the position in the workshop, have an interest in digital fabrication and the use of workshop machinery. Knowledge of Swedish is considered a merit.
For the position in communications, have an interest in developing your skills in communication and marketing, and be well-acquainted with social media (e.g., Instagram). Be interested in working with digital tools. Good knowledge of Swedish is a requirement. Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and/or After Effects is considered a merit.

Terms of Employment
