Postdoctoral scholarship (2 years) within Software Security

The Department of Computing Science is offering a postdoctoral scholarship within Software Security. The scholarship is full-time for 2 years with access April 2, 2026 or by agreement. The last day to apply is March 15, 2026.

Project description
The successful candidate will join the Software Engineering and Security (SES) group. The SES group conducts research to improve software quality through program analysis. More information about the research group is available here: Software Engineering and Security (SES) group.

The postdoctoral fellow’s main objective consists in analyzing malicious code to help detect and prevent future attacks. While our research group has a strong experience with the analysis of Android and Java application you will have room to select the target applications to study and select the most interesting features to investigate and the most appropriate analysis techniques to use. In this role, you will have the opportunity to conduct independent research while aligning your projects closely with the main objective. 

This postdoctoral scholarship is financed by the KEMPE Foundations (Stiftelserna J.C. Kempes och Seth M. Kempes minne). The scholarship is tax-free and amounts to 375 000 SEK/year. 

 

Qualifications 
To qualify as a postdoctoral scholarship holder, the postdoctoral fellow is required to have completed a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. This qualification requirement must be fulfilled no later than at the time of the decision about scholarship recipient.

Priority should be given to candidates who completed their doctoral degree, according to what is stipulated in the paragraph above, no later than three years prior. If there are special reasons, candidates who completed their doctoral degree before that may also be eligible. Special reasons include absence due to illness, parental leave, appointments of trust in trade union organisations, military service or similar circumstances, as well as clinical practice or other forms of appointment/assignment relevant to the subject area.

Doctoral degree should be within computer science. 

Addtional requirements are: 

  • Competitive research record in computer security and/or software engineering
  • Commitment, collaborative skills, and a critical mind
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English  
  • Good programming skills (e.g., in C, Python or Java)

- Cover letter (2 pages max) in which you describe how your previous research experience is relevant to the call and your research plan for the position, 

- Curriculum vitae (CV) with publication list, 

- Verified copy of doctoral degree certificate or documentation that clarifies when the doctor’s degree is expected to be obtained, 

- Verified copies of other diplomas, list of completed academic courses and grades, 

- Copy of doctoral thesis and other relevant articles, 

- Other documents that the applicant wishes to claim. 

- Contact information to two persons willing to act as references.
