Doctors who have completed their doctoral degree at Umeå University can buy a doctoral ring. The patterns on the ring is especially designed for the university and its faculties. The ring is made of either plain gold (red) or white gold (looks like silver) and is usually worn on the left hand. If you also have a wedding ring, it comes "closest to the heart".
When the university was founded, there were three faculties, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Odontology and the Faculty of Philosophy, and therefore there are three different models of the ring. Below you can see the rings in red gold.
