We provide a scientific platform for research, teaching and public outreach in Abisko, serving a key role in Umeå University´s activities in the Arctic. Our focus is on the effects of climatic and environmental changes on arctic and alpine ecosystems.

Herbarium UME
Herbarium UME is a public research herbarium encompassing approximately 300 000 specimens of vascular plants, mosses, algae, fungi and lichens from all parts of the world, but mainly from northern Sweden.
Umeå Marine Sciences Centre (UMF)
Umeå Marine Sciences Centre (UMF) is a research centre at Umeå University, organised under the Faculty of Science and Technology and situated in Norrbyn, 40 kilometres south of Umeå. UMF supports marine research and education, and performs environmental analysis on commission of Swedish environmental monitoring. We also provide information about research and environmental status, with a particular focus on the Gulf of Bothnia.
