The Role of Language in Challenging Times: Minority, Majority and Educational perspectives

Welcome to the next national symposium for ASLA, the Swedish Association of Applied Linguistics, which will be held on 7–8 maj 2026 hosted by the Department of Language Studies.

The theme of the symposium is – The Role of Language in Challenging Times: Minority, Majority and Educational Perspectives – which can be interpreted widely. Contributions within applied linguistics that are not directly linked to this theme are also welcome. Apart from regular individual papers, the symposium includes four plenary presentations, panel discussions, symposia and poster presentations.

20 minutes presentation followed by 5 minutes discussion.

Regular Registration (March 2–April 1): SEK 2350 (plus VAT)

Please note that ASLA membership is required to participate in the symposium. The membership fee must be paid by those who are not already members, according to the instructions at ASLAs website.

ASLA is the Swedish branch of the international association of applied linguistics, AILA (Association internationale de linguistique appliquée). ASLA’s aim is to promote research concerning practical problems to do with language, facilitate contacts between language researchers in Sweden and other countries and encourage participation in AILA’s research networks.
