Collaborate with us

The Department of Physics has extensive collaboration with other universities, colleges, schools, organizations and companies for sharing our knowledge in physics, communicate new research findings and initiate development of new technology.

The Department of Physics collaborates with schools, organizations and companies to spread knowledge about physics and new research findings, to meet the curiosity of the general public about how the world works in small and large ways, and to contribute to the development of society and new technology.

Robottävlingen

Every year, Engineering Physics organizes a robotics competition. You can see more about it on this clip.

We can meet in the following ways, for example

  • Alumni activities (former students)
  • Working life days, study visits and recruitment
  • Thesis work and student projects
  • Research
  • Guest lectures, program councils and sponsor companies
  • Popular science lectures
  • School visits

Schools and the public

We have been receiving visits from schools and the general public for several years and therefore have a range of activities to offer. You can invite us to visit you. We offer a variety of popular science lectures and activities, including Research à la carte and “Hollywood Physics”. In our “Hollywood Physics” lecture show, our physicists explore how the laws of physics behave in Hollywood movies.

For high school classes, we offer a visit package that allows students to carry out a lab experiment, have coffee with university students, and try out and investigate a variety of strange ‘physics toys’.

Every year, dedicated students from the Department of Engineering Physics organize a Robotics Competition. The teams that sign up compete to be crowned the Robot Competition winner for the current year. The registered teams build a robot that will be able to solve a number of missions in real life during the Robot Competition final held in the spring.

We also participate in a number of annual activities such as NOT week, Living Question Box, Teknikåttan, and the regional final for Young Researchers.

Industry and society

The department's cooperation with the surrounding community includes:

  • Thesis work and student projects. Students often practice their knowledge and skills in projects. These can be carried out at or on behalf of various companies and organizations.
  • Research. The Department's research is carried out in collaboration with a wide range of organizations and companies - internationally, nationally and locally.

There are furthemore a number of other activities in or closely linked to education where companies and organizations are involved. This can take the form of external guest lecturers and study visits. Student organizations and companies jointly arrange company evenings and industry evenings.

Thesis and student projects

Students often practice their knowledge and skills in projects. These can be carried out at or on behalf of various companies and organizations.

Getting involved in theses and student projects gives external parties the opportunity to share in the results of an interesting project and get to know students who are potential future employees. It is also a way to make contacts with university staff and at the same time make important contributions to teaching by providing it with challenges, knowledge of the world around them and the opportunity to practice their skills.
