Have you been admitted to a course or programme, but do not wish to keep your place? Then you should decline your offer by logging in to your account at Universityadmissions.se. In doing so, you free up your place to someone who is on the waiting list.
When you have acknowledged your place at universityadmissions, you must still register for the course in order to take it. On this course, the registration is done on the student web when the course starts. You will be able to register between the dates 2020-08-24 and 2020-09-03. If you have not registered yourself in the portal before 2020-09-03, you will lose your place on the course.
In order for you to be able to register on the course, you must first activate your user account (UmU-account). Mor information about registration on the student web can be found on the page https://www.umu.se/en/student/my-studies/how-to-use-the-student-web/
Course start is 1/9 at 13-15 on-line.

All students taking a course at Umeå University are given a so-called UmU-ID and an email account with the address UmUfirstname.lastname@example.org. This email address is your primary address. You can change this address through the "Portalen". Students that takes net-based courses or courses that are given in Cambro are believed to use the UmU-address. As a student at the department of Computing Science, you also get a user at the department and an email address email@example.com linked to it. Teachers on campus-courses or courses not using Cambro, send all their information to this address. If you want to e-mails to go to a different address instead, do the following: 1. Go to the website http://webapps.cs.umu.se/ . 2. Click on the link named "Mail forwarding" and log in with your cs-username and password. 3. On that page there is a heading "Mail forwarding" and a text box. 4. Enter the email address that you normally read your mail from there. (You can enter multiple addresses if you wish.) 5. Click the "Save Settings" and you're done.

Thank you for choosing Umeå University! We really look forward to seeing you. Until October, most of the teaching at the university will take place online. But the library group study rooms and study spaces are open from the start of the semester. Please remember to keep your distance when using these spaces.
The exact plan for the rest of the autumn semester has not yet been decided. At some point this autumn, we will likely all be able to meet on campus again, but the way back needs to be gradual. The university is planning on reaching a new decision about the autumn semester in mid-August. Unfortunately, we can’t give you any clear information about how your specific education will be affected quite yet. But stay updated through the Student web.
Follow this simple list of things to complete your enrolment at Umeå University. It includes: how to secure housing, getting a residence permit (for citizens from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland), tuition payment (if applicable), travel directions and more.
International students are recommended to arrive at least a few days before the start of the regular term, preferably prior to the Orientation. If you fail to arrive on time, you have to contact the study counselor as soon as possible, but not later than one week ahead of the course start, or you may not be able to register for the programme.
If you will have housing through the International Housing Office you will receive information about your arrival in your offer of housing.
Don't forget - Umeå has cold winters, so pack accordingly with a warm jacket, warm shoes, gloves and hat.
Moving to a new country with an unfamiliar language, culture and customs can be a challenge. We would like to help you and ease that challenge so that you can focus on your studies. Therefore, we would like to offer you the possibility to take part in our Orientation, which begins a few days before the start of the term (Autumn) or the same day as the term starts (Spring).
As a new student, you need to activate your user account approximately two weeks prior to the term start in order to, for instance:
access the internet in computer labs and the university's wireless network
register for courses
submit assignments and verify your study results
access your student e-mail
If you are a new student, you will automatically receive a user account when you are admitted, but you will need to activate it for it to function properly. You will not be able to activate it until approximately two weeks prior to the term start.
The website for current students has all sorts of information about services, support, legal and practical matters at Umeå University. You can sign in to the learning platforms, see your schedule and course overview, register for a course, get a study certificate, apply for a degree or sign up for an examination.
