Frequently asked questions
How long is the in-school placement?
The course begins and ends with lectures on campus, and in between, you will follow a teacher's school day in a Swedish school for about 18 days. The standard working hours are 40 hours per week.
How should I dress for being in a Swedish school?
Swedish schools do not require formal attire or uniforms, so you can dress as you prefer. It's recommended to switch to indoor shoes. Also, make sure to wear appropriate winter clothing so you can join outdoor activities during the children's breaks.
Is it possible to combine this course with another campus course at 50% study pace?
No, we do not recommend combining this course with others, since you are expected to be present in a school full-time throughout the course.
I am an exchange student. Will you be able to fill in documents (i.e. percentage) from my home university to translate the Swedish grade to percentage so that I can credit my course?
No, we do not sign these documents. Your home university is responsible for translating Swedish grades into your country's grading system. It may help to present your course work and exams from Umeå University to your home university when you return.
