Organisation at the Faculty of Social Science

This page presents the organisation at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The faculty leadership consists of the Dean, Deputy Dean, Associate Dean and Head of the Faculty Office.

The Faculty of Social Sciences has several bodies that reach decisions, make proposals and investigate certain matters.

Decision-making bodies

The Faculty Board and the Dean’s Executive Meetings are the decision-making bodies at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The Faculty Board has the chief responsibility for education, doctoral studies and research within the social sciences at Umeå University, and the Dean is chair of the board.

Preparatory and processing bodies

The Education Committee, the Research Committee and the employment committees are the preparatory and processing bodies at the Faculty. The Education Committee prepares issues concerning education on first and second cycle levels for faculty board meetings. The Research Committee prepares issues concerning research and doctoral studies for Faculty Board meetings. The two employment committees at the Faculty of Social Sciences process the employment of professors and associate professors, as well as the appointment of docents.

The faculty’s study programmes also have programme committees.

Administration

The faculty is administered by the Faculty Office of Social Sciences.
