You can request all materials in our special collections. To consult the material, you need to book the library's special reading room. Older books can also be digitised through Ebooks on Demand (EOD).

How to use the library's special collections

All materials in our special collections are available and can be requested. We will notify you when your ordered material is ready, usually the next working day. To consult the material, you need to book a seat in the library’s special reading room.

Order copies of material

If you are unable to visit the library, you can contact us to order copies from our special collections.

It is free of charge to order copies if the material consists of 1-4 pages.

Older books can be digitised through Ebooks on Demand (EOD)

Books printed up to and including 1930 can be ordered as a digital copy through Ebooks on Demand (EOD), if copyright and the physical condition of the material allow it. The books are then digitised in their entirety.

Digitisation via EOD is free of charge for employees at Umeå University.

Temporary facilities while the library is being renovated

Large parts of the University Library are currently undergoing renovation. This means that the usual facilities for archives and special collections are not accessible, but our services are available as usual.
