Book group study rooms, resource rooms and 3D-printers

At the library you can book group study rooms, resource rooms and 3D-printers.

How the booking system works

Book a group room, resource room and 3D-printer

  1. In the booking system for each resource you choose date at the top of the page. If you wish you can use the filters to choose location, equipment and the number of people.
  2. Mark the time you want to book in the schedule and click on "Reserve".
  3. Use your Umu-id to sign in.
  4. Add another person with their Umu-id, or skip this step.*
  5. Click on “Finish”.

*Add another person - Each resource needs to be confirmed by you or the other person. The other person can confirm, but not cancel a reservation. Adding a person to a booking does not affect their ability to book another resource the same day.

Confirm the reservation

  • In the booking system click on “My bookings” to see all and confirm your reservations.
  • You or the person you added must confirm the reservation – as the earliest 30 minutes before and as the latest 15 minutes after the booking has begun.
  • If you don't confirm the reservation, the resource automatically becomes available 15 minutes after start of the booking period. Half an hour is deducted from the hours you can book that week.
  • You don't need to confirm bookings made 30 minutes before or after the start of the booking period.

Cancel a reservation

  1. In the booking system, click on the link "My bookings".
  2. Click on "Cancel" for the reservation you want to cancel.

Make a reservation with a smartphone

  1. Choose date and start and stop time.
  2. Click "Search".
  3. Click on the resource you wish to reserve.
  4. Log in with your Umu-id.
  5. Add another person with their Umu-id, or skip this step.*
  6. Accept the rules by checking the box.
  7. Choose if you want to show your name in the booking system or if you want to book anonymously.
  8. Click "Finish".

*Add person - Each reservation needs to bee confirmed by you or the person you added. The other person can confirm, not cancel a reservation. Adding a person does not affect their ability to book another resource the same day.

Access rights and booking rules

Group study rooms

  • In order to book a group study room, you must have an Umu-id.
  • The group study rooms are intended for group work, i.e. at least two persons.
  • The rooms can be booked three weeks in advanced and you can book a maximum of 6 slots a day (one slot is 30 minutes). 
  • The group study rooms at the University Library and the Medical Library are available during the library opening hours.
  • The group study rooms at Universum are available Monday-Friday 08.00-22.00 without access card. During other hours the rooms are available with your Umu card. The premises are closed nights between Friday-Saturday and Saturday-Sunday.

Group rooms for staff at Västerbotten county council

Staff at Västerbotten county council without Umu-id can also book group rooms. Contact the Medical Library: or +46 90-785 26 60.


Reservations can be made up to 7 days in advance and may be booked for a maximum of 10 hours per week.

The printers are available during the library's opening hour.

In order to book and use the 3D printers, you will have to first attend an individual workshop where you learn how to use the printer.

Resource rooms

The resource rooms is available for those who need assistance with reading or writing. Contact the library for access to the room.

The resource rooms can be booked 3 weeks in advance and a maximum of 6 hours per day or 20 hours per week.

The rooms are available during the library's opening hours.

Subscribe to your bookings in your calendar

The "My Bookings" page contains a link to subscribe to all of your existing and future reservations. When you subscribe to a calendar, it will connect to your calendar. When you make a new reservation or delete future ones, your own calendar will automatically update these changes.

Remember to specify how far in advance you would like a reminder of your calendar events (bookings).

Usually it's enough to click on the "Link for subscription" link on the "My Bookings" page to add the subscription to the digital calendar on your cellphone / computer. If this does not work, please see program-specific guides below for the most common calendars.

Mac calendar

  1. Open the Calendar on your Mac.
  2. Go to "File" > "New Calendar Subscription…".
  3. Enter the URL to the calendar and press "Subscribe".
  4. Select "Icloud" as "Location" if you would like to sync the calendar with your Iphone.
  5. Select how often you would like to update the calendar under "Auto-refresh" (we suggest every 15 minutes).
  6. Press OK.

Outlook in Office 365

  1. Open Outlook, go to the calendar in the bottom left corner. Please note! You can only create a subscription from a computer, not a cellphone or a tablet.
  2. Right click on "Other Calendars" and choose "Add Calendar" and then "From Internet".
  3. Enter the location of the Internet calendar you would like to add to Outlook.
  4. Give the calendar a name.
  5. Click Save.

Google Calendar

  1. Log in to your Google account and select "Calendar". Please note! You can only create the subscription from a computer, not a cellphone or tablet.
  2. Click the down arrow next to the heading "Other calendars".
  3. Select "Add by URL".
  4. Enter the URL of the calendar that appears on the "My Bookings" page and click "Add Calendar".

An subscription via Google Calendar is only updated every 8 hours.

Android cellphone

Different manufacturers of cellphones have different Apps they include with the cellphone. Samsung includes its own calendar App, some others include Google's calendar. It is therefore difficult to write general guidelines for how to add a subscription to an android cellphone.

  1. Click on "Link for subscription" under "My bookings".
  2. When the calendar App opens and asks to subscribe to the feed, you'll answer Yes/OK.
  3. If nothing happens when you click on the "Link for Subscription", you may need to install the ”WebCal-Sync” App that manages calendar links (webcal:// protocol). Currently, we are not able to provide support for this App or Android cellphones.


  1. Select  "Link for subscription" under "My bookings".
  2. A dialog will open "Subscribe to the calendar 'My bookings'?" Select "Subscribe".
  3. Wait until the cellphone states that the subscription has been added and then select "Done".
