Annual Autumn Ceremony with 56 lectures on 18-20 October

Soon it is time for Umeå University's Annual Autumn Ceremony 2012. For three days you can listen to short popular science lectures on topics such as gender and health, neurosurgery, the psychology of time perspective, or photosynthesis. The lecturers are this year’s new honorary doctors, professors and award recipients, who will be honoured at the Autumn Ceremony on 20 October. 13 of the 56 lectures will be held in English.
On Thursday 18 October, library director Mikael Sjögren will inaugurate an exhibition on this years honourees at the university library. After that, the lectures will begin.
The festive ceremony is on Saturday October 20 at 17:00 (5 pm) and takes about two hours. The opening addresses will be followed by the conferment of 9 honorary doctorates, the installation of 32 new professors, and finally by the presentation of 14 awards for scientific achievement.
Everybody is welcome to attend the ceremony and experience a traditional Swedish university ritual. There is no dress-code for the audience.
