NEWS On 17-19 October, Umeå University will be hosting short popular science lectures on topics such as the cell nucleus, arctic domestication, supply-side environmental policy and the interkosmos. The lecturers are this year’s new honorary doctors, professors and award recipients, who will be honoured at the Autumn Ceremony on 19 October. 13 of the 43 lectures will be held in English.

On Thursday 17 October at 13:00 (1:00 pm), Head Librarian director Mikael Sjögren will inaugurate an exhibition on the 2013 honourees at the University Library. Later in the evening, the series of lectures will begin at Norrlands University Hospital.

The festive ceremony takes place on Saturday 19 October at 17:00 (5 pm) and is about two hours in duration. The opening addresses will be followed by the conferment of 8 honorary doctorates, the installation of 23 new professors, the presentation of 13 awards for scientific achievement and two medalists.

The general public is welcome to attend the ceremony in Aula Nordica and experience a traditional Swedish university ritual. There is no dress-code for the audience.
