Application fee for non-EU/EEA students set for autumn term 2011

The application fee for students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland applying to study at higher education institutions in Sweden from autumn 2011 has been set at SEK 900 (approx. EUR 95/USD 125).
The Swedish Ministry for Education and Research has now published ordinances regarding application and tuition fees for studies beginning autumn term 2011.
Students with citizenship in a country outside the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland will be required to pay a SEK 900 (Swedish kronor) application fee. This fee will be introduced starting with application to autumn term 2011. The application fee will cover the costs associated with the processing of an admission application.
The application period for the autumn term 2011 will be from the beginning of December 2010 to the middle of January 2011.
Students applying for the spring term 2011 (with a deadline on 16 august) or summer courses in 2011, regardless of nationality, will not be required to pay an application fee.
Umeå University is currently working towards establishing specific tuition levels for courses and programmes) for the autumn term 2011, which will apply to students outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
