NEWS
Umeå University’s graphic template tool now features a new template for doctoral theses. As a doctoral student, you can use the template to create the nailing leaflet and cover, as well as to compile the kappa (introductory summary) and the constituent papers into a cohesive thesis. Support is available throughout the process until your thesis is printed.
The new template enables you, as a doctoral student, to independently create and assemble the various parts of your thesis. The template follows Umeå University’s visual identity and helps you design the cover, insert information in the correct places, and generate files for print, screen, and hard copy. There are step-by-step instructions on how to use the template in Manual.
Here's how to do it – in broad terms
Write your summary (kappa) in a word processing programme. Umeå University offers ready-made Word templates for the summary and errata sheet, as well as a guide on how to use them.
Log in to the graphic design tool and select the “Doctoral thesis” template.
Upload your text file with the summary, complete the notification sheet, and enter other information in the correct fields.
Need help? Please contact Umeå University’s internal service Tryckservice if you have questions about the template or the printing process, for example regarding image quality or how to adapt tables.
