Celebrate the arrival of spring on campus!

NEWS The Walpurgis Eve festivities on 30 April offer a variety of activities for both old and young. Choir singing, the "spring speech”, market and attractions for kids are just a few examples. The bonfire will be lit at 20.00 CET. The evening concludes with a concert and spectacular fire show.

For the sixth consecutive year, Walpurgis Eve on Campus (Swedish: Valborg på campus) is presented by Umeå University, Umeå Municipality and Akademiska Hus. This year’s celebration will take place on the campus meadows, located between SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences), the Technology Building and the Behavioural Sciences Building.

The hosts for the evening are Beppe Starbrink and Inger Ljung, anchorpersons at SVT (Sweden’s Television).

Food and refreshments will be available for purchase on the ground and Café Lindell in the Social Sciences Building will be open during the entire evening.

Programme: Saturday 30 April, 18.00–21.30 (6:00-9:30 pm)

18.00 Welcome from Emcees Inger Ljung and Beppe Starbrink
18.05 Umeå pop and rock choir
18.30 Sideshow Stringband. Bluegrass band from Umeå
19.00 ”Spring poem” - the winner of the "spring poem" contest will perform.
19.15 The Midnight Soul Band
19.50 Walpurgis Choirs: Umeå Student Choir, Umeå Nations Choir, Umeå Vocal Ensemble and Sångkraft. Under the leadership of musical director Tomas Pleje.
20.00 Bonfire lighting ceremony and the "spring speech" by Umeå University's Vice-Chancellor, Lena Gustafsson
20.30 Syket, high acclaimed Umeå-based banbd
21.20 Kelfirius, spectular fire show concludes the evening
