Emmanuelle Charpentier awarded "Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur"

NEWS On New Year’s Eve 2015, President François Hollande awarded the researcher Emmanuelle Charpentier with the title “Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur” – Knight of the Legion of Honor.

The Legion of Honor is the highest decoration in France and was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802. It is divided into five degrees of increasing distinction. French citizens who, through their achievements, have contributed to the development of France are entitled to become members of the Legion.

Emmanuelle Charpentier, visiting professor at Umeå University, was awarded together with 615 other French citizens.
