European CBRNE Center celebrates 5 years with outdoor exercises

NEWS On Wednesday 6 November, the European CBRNE Center at Umeå University is holding open house event. The programme includes activities with military vehicles, emergency vehicles and a quadrocopter that can be perceived as something dramatic. The exercises will take place at approx. 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. by the KBC, Technology and Natural Sciences Buildings.

The European CBRNE Center at Umeå University is celebrating its fifth anniversary and invites the general public, students and staff to an open house on Wednesday 6 November. An aspect of the center's operations is to tailor exercises in the field of hazardous substances. The anniversary programme therefore features some outdoor exercises that are likely to be quite exciting.

The exercises will be held during approximately 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at four individual stations around the KBC Building (click on map for larger image).

The four stations will feature: a fire truck, an ambulance, two smaller military vehicles and a small number of uniformed persons. A Quadrocopter - a kind of model helicopter for remote reconnaissance for injured persons - will be featured in one of the courtyards in the Natural Sciences Building. The courtyard will be blocked for access during the afternoon.

CBRNE stands for chemical (C), biological (B), radioactive (R), nuclear (N) and explosive (E) subjects.
