The response has been great and has far exceeded my expectations

On the last day of January 2022, the possibility to submit an expression of interest for the Arctic Graduate School with a focus on Sustainable Development ended. The school is a brand-new initiative at the Arctic Centre at Umeå university, Arcum, and will open its doors for the first time this autumn.

A total of 25 applications were received from all four faculties with a total of 15 departments and units applying. In the next couple of weeks, a reference group will evaluate the applications, and the Steering Committee of Arcum will on March 7 decide which 12 are selected.

The graduate school has had a quick development with the announcement of the set-up at the end of November last year, and doctoral students in place by the first of September this year.
