India's ambassador to Sweden, Banashri Bose Harrison, visited Umeå during 13-14 February in accordance with Umeå University holding the Secretariat of the Nordic Centre in India as of 1 January 2014.
The ambassador had the opportunitity to meet students, researchers and the university management during these two intenstive days. In addition, she had discussions with Rupali Bhalerao, the Nordic Centre's new chairperson at Umeå University. The centre works to give assistance to researchers, students and visiting Nordic delegations from the Nordic member universities in establishing contacts and cooperation with Indian universities and governmental bodies.
On Thursday, Ambassador Banashri Bose Harrison visited Umeå Arts Campus and Humlab-X. On Friday, she received a presentation of research and training in public health. She will also be informed about a research project on tuberculosis by Umeå researchers, carried out in collaboaration with a research institution in Bangalore. In addition, she will learn about student exchanges in India at the Faculty of Medicine, as well as activities taking place in Mumbai involving students at the Umeå School of Architecture.
The ambassador completed her visit with a lecture for the Umeå Association of Political Affairs with the theme "Present and future collaboration with contemporary India and Sweden."
