Lina Trulsson awarded with the 2015 Michael Treschow scholarship

NEWS Lina Trulsson, MFA in Advanced Product Design student at Umeå Institute of Design, has been awarded the 2015 Michael Treschow scholarship worth SEK 100,000 for the boldness, new thinking and enthusiasm that signifies her work.

The scholarship jury writes in their motivation: “Lina Trulsson receives the Michael Treschow scholarship for her strong driving force and the maturity in her design work. Her interest and engagement lies in health care design, and her work is signified by much compassion and a strong user focus. Lina uses her own experiences to work in a clear and empathic way in her projects; by putting herself in the position of the patient, the relative or the health care personnel, she wants to improve and develop the experience of health care.”

Lina will receive the award at the Stockholm School of Economics on 26 November.

"Winning the Michael Treschow scholarship makes me feel enormously happy and inspired. I am dedicated to improve and simplify life for people in different situations, especially in health care where there both are big challenges, but also room for improvements," says Lina Trulsson.

Lina Trulsson has been awarded for the prototypes “Move”, an insulin pump adapted for exercise and “Remind”, a small music device for Alzheimer patients.

"We are incredibly proud of the recognition that Lina receives through the Michael Treschow scholarship. During her studies at UID, and with the excellent prototypes she has shown the scholarship jury, Lina has clearly shown that she has the ability to handle complex and relevant design challenges. Challenges with potential to create design solutions that can improve everyday life for the ones needing improvement the most," says Thomas Degn, Programme Director of the Master's Programme (MFA) in Advanced Product Design.
