On 1 July, new deans and pro deans will take office at Umeå University, representing the highest management positions for the four respective faculties. Vice-Chancellor Hans Adolfsson has now reached the formal decisions on who take the roles.
“The Election Committees at the faculties have undertaken a thorough job in presenting candidates with high qualifications, and who are also well-established at their departments and offices. I know many of them since before, and I am looking forward to working with them in their new roles at the faculties,” says Hans Adolfsson.
At the Faculty of Arts, Professor Åsa Karlsson-Sjögren has been appointed dean, and Senior Lecturer Torkel Molin has been appointed pro dean.
At the Faculty of Science and Technology, Professor Mikael Elofsson has been appointed dean, and Professor Sara Sjöstedt de Luna has been appointed pro dean.

At the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Patrik Danielsson has been appointed dean, and Professor Marie Bixo has been appointed pro dean.
At the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Ruth Mannelqvist has been appointed dean, and Professor Gregory Neely has been appointed pro dean.

The term of office forthe new deans, pro deans and external members of each respective faculty board stretches from 1 July 2017 until 30 June 2021. The current term of office for the members of the faculty boards terminates on 30 June 2017.
