New exhibitions open at Bildmuseet

NEWS On Swedish National Day Bildmuseet opens three new exhibitions. You vill meet artworks concerning the impact of Spare Time on people’s lives and an enquiry into our relationship with the wild and nature. In addition, the result of collaboration between children, artists and a scientist.

Spare Time

The Spare Time exhibition explores the concept of spare time and the impact of recreational activities. What makes us experience well-being and satisfaction in our free time? How do we detach ourselves from work and our everyday responsibilities? The participating Swedish and international artists are: Gerd Aurell, Brice Bourdet, Christian Jankowski, Anna Lidberg, Roland Persson, Åsa Sonjasdotter, SpY and Helena Wikström.

Edith Marie Pasquier: 13 983 birds

13 983 birds is the title of British artist Edith Marie Pasquier’s exhibition at Bildmuseet this summer. Her poetic photographs, films and installations, represent Pasquier’s passionate interest in our relationship with birds and other wild animals. In this, her first major solo show, she presents a number of new works produced in Sweden, including an installation based on a current Swedish court case.

Everybody is Entitled to Security

A Umeå University professor has told children of different ages about his research on brain tumours. With the help of the artists at Kulturverket, the children’s thoughts about the research have been transformed into art. The exhibition Alla har rätt till trygghet (Everybody is Entitled to Security) at Bildmuseet this summer contains film, music, pictures, dance and performance.
