New lecture series at Umeå School of Architecture

NEWS "The Ethological city" and "Where is Our Collective Imagination? Architecture and the Crisis of the Public." These are two samples of titles as Umeå School of Architecture at Umeå University offers a series of open evening lectures starting on Thursday 15 November under the theme Relational Architecture.

During four Thursdays, visitors are able to listen to Swedish and international speakers in the architectural field.

The first lecturer is Alex van de Beld, founder of the architectural firm ONIX, which has offices in both the Netherlands and Sweden. The firm has been selected amongst high competition to take part in the great project of moving the whole mining town of Kiruna, Norrbotten, three kilometers to the east.

Katrin Sten, head of department at Umeå School of Architecture, hopes the initiative will attract a broad audience Umeå.

"The lecture series highlights the current issues in architecture and urban planning as the Umeå School of Architecture is working with both in research and education," says Katrin Sten.

The event is free and the general public is welcome. The lectures will be held  in English and will be filmed and streamed live, and will be available at Umeå University and the Umeå School of Architecture websites.

About the public lectures:

The lectures will take place on Thursdays: 15 November, 29 November, 5 December and 13 December at 19.00 in the large auditorium (Auditoriet) at the Umeå School of Architecture, Östra Strandgatan 30C i Umeå.
