On Wednesday 11 May, TEDxUmeå will be held for the third time, and Umeå University is one of the co-organisers. This year’s theme is challenging the norm and to encourage new ways of thinking. Several researchers at Umeå University will be speaking and sharing their ideas.
"It is important for Umeå University to encourage and strengthen collaboration with the business and public sectors. With TedxUmeå, we are involved in the dissemination of new knowledge and ideas between people, organisations and companies. Umeå University is actively seeking new ways to increase the exchange of knowledge - TedxUmeå is such an approach," says Agneta Marell, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for External Relations and Innovation at Umeå University
TedxUmeå 2016 is much larger than prior years, with approximately 400 guests in attendance. The theme is challenging the norm and having new ways of addressing a subject or looking at a certain phenomenon.
Over 20 exciting artists, researchers and thinkers will be participating, including six from Umeå University:

Virginia Langum, Department of Language Studies
Sara Edenheim, Umeå Centre for Gender Studies (UCGS)
Stefan Jansson, Department of Plant Physiology
Nasim Sabouri, Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics
The organisers of the event are: Umeå University, Umeå Municipality, Ledarskapscentrum, Nicke&Nico, Region Västerbotten, Blå Huset, Dohi and Heja.
