Over 2000 gymnasium students to visit Campus on 24 March
NEWS
On Thursday, an Information Day will be held at Campus Umeå for gymnasium students in Sweden and others interested in university studies. This year, a new session will be held in the evening for those who completed upper secondary school several or many years ago, for those who will change careers or for those who are curious about university level studies.
2,100 students in their final year of gymnasium (secondary school) have registered to attend Umeå University’s Information Day.
“We know from experience that it’s positive to actually see the university in person along with getting information about the academic programmes,” says Maria Hammarström, project manager for Information Day. “It is always easier to take the step to move and decide to study when one has an idea how the campus is like. Therefore, Umeå University has invited gymnasiums from Norrbotten, Västerbotten and Västernorrland counties and has chartered buses for them.”
Information Day intends to provide guidance on the steps to take to continue studies at the university level. Visitors will be able to attend seminars and popular science lectures, including having the chance to ask questions to students, teachers and study advisers. Around 120 activities will take place, ranging from lectures and study visits to learning how to make ends meet financially as a student.
The Information Day will be open from 9.00 to 16.30 for gymnasium pupils from throughout northern Sweden. An evening session will be held at 18.00 to 20.00 for older individuals that are seeking to change paths, in addition to parents.
