Per Enoksson / The Forest in Me

NEWS Sunday 30 March at 14:00 the installation Skogen i mig [The Forest in Me] by artist Per Enoksson will be inaugurated outside of Bildmuseet. Welcome to a press preview Thursday 27 March at 10:00. The artist will be present to talk about his work.

Our relationship to the forest is the theme of Per Enoksson’s art installation Skogen i mig [The Forest in Me] which is on display outside Bildmuseet. This remarkable work in wood and textile, that appears to grow out of the museum, reflects a longing for a simpler life closer to nature where everyday choices are reduced to the bare necessities.  It evokes an ambivalent sense of being drawn to the diversity and choice of city life while also harbouring a longing for a return to nature, tranquillity and “the forest in me”.  Outside, visitors can consider the outer shape and from Bildmuseet’s window peek into its interior.

Per Enoksson (b. 1965) lives and works in Umeå. He created the installation Skogen i mig exclusively for the Bildmuseet exhibition. Previously in his career he has focused mainly on painting and has several large public commissions under his belt. Today he also works with design.

Some of his latest solo exhibitions have been housed in Eskilstuna Art Museum, Sweden, 2012; Vetlanda Art Museum, Sweden, 2010; GAD, Oslo, Norway, 2009 and the Derek Eller Gallery, New York, USA, 2009.

The exhibition was produced by Bildmuseet with funding from Umeå 2014 and Kulturkontakt Nord.
