Her research lies at the intersection of formal languages, machine learning and semantics. Professor Johanna Björklund is now focusing on finding new and improved ways to evaluate generative AI.

Johanna Björklund, professor of Computing Science at Umeå University, specialises in semantic analysis of multimodal data – advanced computational systems capable of interpreting and generating combined media such as text, images and forms. She is co‑founder of the media technology companies Codemill, Aeterna Labs and DeepTensor, and is head of WARA Media and Language, a research arena within WASP, the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Programme.
