Restaurant school professor named best chef by peers
NEWS
Mathias Dahlgren, adjunct professor at Umeå School of Restaurant and Culinary Arts, has been ranked first by his colleagues. He has been named “chef of all chefs” for the seventh time. Every year, an expert jury consisting of elite Swedish chefs, selects the 20 best chefs in the nation. Dahlgren is ranked first on the 2010 list.
Dahlgren lives and works in Stockholm, but has roots in Umeå and Västerbotten. He was raised in a village called Storliden outside of Umeå, and since 2008 he has been an adjunct professor at Umeå University’s School of Restaurant and Culinary Arts.
Matthias Dahlgren has won many accolades, including winning the world culinary championship Bocuse d’Or in 1997. He is a restaurateur and, in 2007, he opened the self-titled exclusive restaurant in the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm. It’s also only the second Swedish restaurant to earn two Michelin stars. He also runs the side restaurant Matbaren in the same hotel.
