SEK 30 million in grants to humanities and social sciences

NEWS The Swedish Research Council has reached the decisions on funding grants to nine research projects within the humanities, social sciences and educational sciences at Umeå University.

The Swedish Research Council is the largest state funder of basic research at Swedish higher education institutions and research institutes. The have now reached decision on the research projects that will receive government funding in the areas of humanities, social sciences and educational sciences. The following individuals at Umeå University have received funding for research projects.

Thomas Aronsson, Professor at the Department of Economics, receives SEK 4,200,000 in project grant funding.

Jonas Carlquist, Professor at the Department of Language Studies, receives SEK 5,745,000 in project grant funding.

Örjan Edström, Professor at the Department of Law, receives SEK 1,424,000 in project grant funding.

Urban Lindgren, Professor at the Department of Social and Economic Geography, receives SEK 2,769,000 in project grant funding.

Maria Lindgren Leavenworth, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Language Studies, receives SEK 2,622,000 project grant on the human need and use of fiction.

Nora Räthzel, Professor at the Department of Sociology, receives SEK 9,195,000 in multi-project grants for research on civil society.

Ann-Louise Silfver, Senior Lecturer in Education, receives SEK 200,000 planning grant.

Mattias Strandh, Reader at the Department of Sociology, receives SEK 3,084,000 in project grant funding.

Helén Strömberg, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economic History receives SEK 200,000 in multi-project grants for research on civil society.
