NEWS The Swedish Research Council has decided which prominent young researchers should be granted consolidation grants. The Council has approved twenty grants of which three go to Umeå University.
The purpose of the grant is to give the most prominent young researchers the opportunity to consolidate their research projects, expand and broaden their research activities. This is the first time the grant is given.
In total, the Swedish Research Council received 307 applications and twenty of those were granted funds, which is an approval rate of 6.5 per cent. Out of 108 female applicants, eight were approved. There were 198 male applicants and 12 of them were approved. The approval rate is hence 7.3 per cent for women and 6.1 per cent for men.
The total sum granted for the period 2016–2022 is SEK 221,388,000.
