Spring commencement for doctoral degrees and lectures by award recipients

All are welcome to attend Umeå University’s spring commencement ceremony on Saturday the 28th of May, when 86 doctoral degree earners and 12 awardees will be recognised. The academic ceremonies will begin on Thursday evening with six award recipients holding lectures in the Humanities Building.
At the Spring Commencement Ceremony (Swedish: Vårpromotion), the doctoral students who have written, published and successfully defended a thesis are honoured with a conferment ceremony. Following the public defence of the thesis, the new doctor is entitled to be conferred and receive the doctoral insignia - a ring, hat and laurel wreath.
