Next week TEDxUmeå is organised at Sliperiet, Umeå Arts Campus. Talks will be given by Rochelle King from Spotify and Peter Bardenfleth-Hansen from Tesla Motors, as well as by several researchers and teachers from Umeå University. The event will be broadcast live at three locations on Campus Umeå.
”It’s important for Umeå University to encourage and strengthen the collaboration with the business world. Through TEDx – now organised for the second time in Umeå – we’re involved in spreading new knowledge and good ideas to people, organisations and companies. Umeå University actively tries to find new ways to increase the exchange of knowledge”, says Agneta Marell, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for External Relations and Innovation, Umeå University.
Several international, national and local lecturers active in the very forefront of their respective field take part in this year’s TEDx. Among them are the former Netflix MD Rochelle King – now Global MD of Design and UX at Spotify – and Peter Bardenfleth-Hansen, Director of Nordic Sales at Tesla Motors, as well as the Åke Sellström, Simon Lindgren, Carl-Johan Boraxbekk, Ambra Trotto, Annika Nordlund and Mattias Lundberg – all at Umeå University.
TEDx activities at Sliperiet TEDx is held at Sliperiet, an international, transdisciplinary innovation environment for researchers, artists, entrepreneurs, students and makers at Umeå Arts Campus, Umeå University. Installations and events are organised by Music Tech Fest, Random Bastards and Interactive Institute. The FabLab offers the opportunity to check out the possibilities with new digital manufacturing techniques, as 3D printing and laser cutting. The most recent 3D printing project within architecture and future buildings will be shown, as well as the new sound studio in Sliperiet.

Follow TEDx live The tickets for April 23 are sold out, but the event will be streamed live at three locations on Campus Umeå: Lecture Hall D at the Lindell Hall, the atrium of the MIT building, and study room 9, H node floor 1 (the pathology corridor) at the University Hospital of Umeå. The event will also be broadcast at campus Örnsköldsvik, Campus Skellefteå, and at Linköping University.
