The proposal made by the future Vice-Chancellor, Hans Adolfsson to the Hearing Assembly, suggests that Katrine Åhlström Riklund fulfils the key criteria in her future role as Pro-Vice-Chancellor, a role which functions as a deputy head of the University. She is a highly qualified researcher with advanced scientific and educational qualifications. She also has experience of qualified academic leadership, for instance as Head of Department, Vice Dean and as chairperson of the Board at Örebro University.
The chairperson of the Hearing Assembly, Anders Bergh, Professor at the Department of Medical Biosciences, expresses that the assembly is pleased with the election of Katrine Åhlström Riklund.
“Katrine Åhlström Riklund has long experience and she is a deeply trusted colleague at Umeå University, which means that she fulfils the Hearing Assembly’s requirements of a Vice-Chancellor. A unanimous Hearing Assembly supports the proposal,” says Anders Bergh.
Hans Adolfsson establishes that Katrine Åhlström Riklund has a wide circle of contacts both nationally and internationally. She also has experience of collaboration with society, for instance in her role as programme director and responsible for the regionalisation of the Medical Programme at Umeå University in collaboration with the three most northern county councils in Sweden as well as Region Jämtland Härjedalen. Katrine Åhlström Riklund is an analytical and strong person and as a leader, she has the ability to gain support for ideas, implement them and follow up on decisions made.
“I have met several interesting candidates in the recruitment process. The decision fell on Katrine Åhlström Riklund since I assessed that we’d make up a good team; we both strongly believe in Umeå University at the same time as we complement each other well in several areas,” says Hans Adolfsson.
