Video made by design students in Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention

NEWS The new animated series "Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention" will have a piece from a video made by students from Umeå Institute of Design.

With humour the series will look at devices and inventions around the world, and hopefully it will be both inspiring and fun. The video will feature in episode 6 - ‘A to B', which will air on December 8 at 7.30 (UK time). The series, produced by Aardman and broadcasted by BBC1, will go international later on.

The video was made in a project called Lightcraft, which was carried out one year ago here at UID, and in the project the three MA programmes at the school worked together with aerospace engineering professor Leik Myrabo to design the ideal experience of travelling with a lightcraft vehicle, either through space, or from, for instance Umeå to Hong Kong.

Professor Myrabo explained that since so many people believe this technology is science fiction, the UID students helped to visualize it in ways that make people see that it is a possible future. He also declared the technology to be ideal for the beyond oil era.
