Information for students, faculty and staff regarding COVID-19. (Updated: 17 September 2020)
The AI research groups at the Department of Computing Science, Umeå University, Sweden, have established a Visiting Fellowship program to foster the development of links with international scholars (at least 5 years post doctorate).
This Fellowship is an exciting opportunity for scholars to visit the Department, contribute to its academic life and form new collaborations.
The focus of the Fellowship is on the impact of Artificial Intelligence, in the broadest sense, a key strength and unifying feature of the AI cluster, or on a substantive area of interest within AI cluster. Proposals for collaborative research with members of the AI cluster are especially welcome.
Applicants are therefore strongly encouraged to engage on interaction with members of the cluster prior to submitting their application for visiting fellowship program. We expect to support 3 to 5 fellowships per year. Applications can be submitted twice a year: before 28 February (for visits in the following Fall) of before 31 August (for visits in the Spring of the year after).
Applicants are expected to be active on AI or other relevant research areas and be currently employed at an institution outside Sweden.
Successful applicants will receive an award of maximum SEK 50,000 (+- € 5,000) to cover travel, accommodation or subsistence expenses incurred in holding the Fellowship. Fellows will normally be on paid leave of absence from their employment. Fellows are expected to stay in Umeå for a period of one to two months (preferably continuous, but can be split into a maximum of two occasions). Fellows will be entitled to use University facilities.
The AI cluster at the department of Computing Science covers a broad area of research, including
• Responsible Artificial Intelligence
• Socially Aware Artificial Intelligence
• Interactive and Intelligent Systems
• Intelligent Robotics
• XAI – Explainable Artificial Intelligence
• Foundations of Language Processing
• Cognitive Engineering
Closing date for visiting fellowship applications for the fall term of 2020 is 29 February 2020. Notifications will be send out by early April 2020.
