Project description

Since long, Sweden and the Swedish Armed Forces have contributed to peacekeeping operations worldwide. A large number of Swedish men and women have served abroad throughout the years. In a labor market perspective, these are unique experiences that can be both positive and negative for the labor market outcomes of veterans.

The aim of Peter Bäckström’s research is to study the impact of foreign deployment on subsequent labor market outcomes for veterans, including income and the risk for unemployment. The research is based on administrative data from a range of different sources.
