- Ensure you have any required permits before starting your research project, including ethical review approval and ethical approval for research on laboratory animals.
- Make sure you understand what secrecy and duty of confidentiality mean by reading the relevant information on Aktum (UMU ID required). You may not disclose information classified as secret even after your assignment has ended.
- Read what good research practice involves and adopt this approach in your research.
- If you hold multiple positions or employments, review the implications of this when processing research data.
- Do you work with biobank samples? If so, you must also comply with the Biobank Act. Contact the Section of Biobank and Registry Support at info.brs@umu.se.
- Report suspected research misconduct. You may encounter suspected fabrication, falsification or plagiarism of research results or deviations in good research practice.
- Are there other laws specifically related to your research? It is your responsibility to find out.
