Present your research infrastructure on the website

Infrastructures that meet the University’s criteria for research infrastructure should be presented on the university-wide website for research infrastructures.

Which research infrastructures may be presented on the website?

To be listed on the university-wide website for research infrastructures, the infrastructure must first be approved by the Council for Research Infrastructure (RIS) in the annual research infrastructure inventory at Umeå University. This means that infrastructures that are not yet listed but meet the criteria should be registered in the next inventory.

Present the research infrastructure clearly

When creating a webpage for one of the University’s research infrastructures on umu.se, it is important that the page contains clear information about what the infrastructure can offer, how to access it and whether there are user fees.

By providing clear information, you make it easier to attract potential external users and for them to contact you. This leads to greater utilisation of the infrastructure, higher revenue, and reduces administration and the need to answer individual questions. The information is also important to make the infrastructure findable for users and is required if you plan to charge user fees.

There are two ways of approaching your research infrastructure page on umu.se:

  • It serves as the infrastructure’s main page. The page should then be detailed and contain all the necessary information. To see an example, visit the Swedish page of the Environmental Archaeology Laboratory or the English page of the Biochemical Imaging Centre Umeå.
  • Your infrastructure has its own webpage or website elsewhere. This applies primarily to regional, national and international infrastructures, but also to some local infrastructures. In this case, it is advised to keep the information on umu.se general and as brief as possible to avoid duplication and instead refer to your own website for more detailed information.

Template for presenting a research infrastructure

Use the research infrastructure page template and fill in the information required for displaying the infrastructure on the university-wide research infrastructure website.

The template is based on the Rules for research infrastructures, which specifies the components that a research infrastructure page should include and explains what information you need to present. Some components are mandatory while others are optional. Note that the presentation is to be in both Swedish and English.

Send the template to your local web editor who will publish the information on umu.se.

Support for web editors when creating a research infrastructure page

The web editor creates a research infrastructure page on umu.se based on the template. The title and summary entered on the page will automatically appear on the university-wide webpage.

The web editor can use the manual when creating a research infrastructure page on umu.se, in Swedish only (Manual)

The Rules for research infrastructures apply

Please also read the Rules for research infrastructures at Umeå University. Their appendix defines both what information should be displayed on the web and who is responsible for which tasks.
